RESIDENCE HOTEL Moungali Overview

First Impressions

Honestly, when I first walked up to RESIDENCE HOTEL Moungali, I wasn’t expecting much from a two-star place. But you know what? Sometimes the best finds are the ones that surprise you. This modest hotel sits right on Rue Lenine, tucked between two major avenues in Brazzaville, and there’s something refreshingly unpretentious about it. The staff greeted me with genuine smiles — not the rehearsed kind you get at bigger places.

The Neighborhood

The location actually works really well if you’re trying to get a feel for real Brazzaville life. You’re sandwiched between Avenue de la Paix and Avenue Marien Ngouabi, which means you can walk to local markets, street food vendors, and small shops without dealing with tourist traps. I spent most mornings wandering the nearby streets with my coffee, watching the city wake up. It’s not fancy, but it’s authentic — and that’s worth something.

The Room

Look, I’m not gonna sugarcoat it — this isn’t a place with marble bathrooms or Egyptian cotton sheets. My room was clean and functional, with air conditioning that actually worked (which, trust me, matters more than thread count when it’s hot). The bed was comfortable enough, and I had a small desk where I could spread out my maps and plan the next day. The Wi-Fi was decent, though it did cut out occasionally during evening hours.

Daily Life

What I appreciated most was how the hotel felt like part of the neighborhood rather than separate from it. The front desk folks knew which local places served the best food, and they weren’t trying to steer me toward expensive tourist spots. There’s a small restaurant attached to the hotel that serves simple Congolese dishes — nothing fancy, but the fish was fresh and the portions were generous. Parking is available on the street, though you’ll want to ask the staff about the safest spots.

Why Guests Love It

Here’s the thing — RESIDENCE HOTEL Moungali isn’t trying to be something it’s not. It’s a straightforward, no-frills place that gives you a clean bed, working amenities, and a genuine slice of Brazzaville life. If you’re the type of traveler who values location and authenticity over luxury touches, you’ll probably find this place hits the sweet spot. The price is fair, the staff is helpful, and you’re right in the middle of everything without paying premium rates for a prime location.

Reviews of RESIDENCE HOTEL Moungali

  • Wonderful – Christopher from Democratic Republic of the Congo – January 18, 2026 (9/10)

Idriss and his colleagues were very welcoming and responded promptly to any requests. Communication went very smoothly too. We had complimentary pick-up and drop-off at the crossing point to Kinshasa. The rooms were clean, and the hotel staff moved in a larger second bed to accommodate our family. The hotel is on a quieter side street, but close to a main road with restaurants and small shops.

    What could be improved: Nothing!

  • Outdated but pretty good for the price – Thomas from Germany – December 13, 2025 (6/10)

Very friendly and helpful staff, free airport / bus terminal pickup, restaurant in the hotel is pretty good

What could be improved: Mattresses are pretty bad, rooms old but for that price all acceptable

  • Scruffy but very efficient and friendly hotel – Richard from United Kingdom – October 14, 2025 (9/10)

Everything worked! Electricity, wifi, air conditioning, fan, credit card, machine airport pick up, answering emails. Good breakfast. Owner spoke and wrote reasonable English and uncomplainingly took me back to airport in the middle of the night. Thank you!

What could be improved: Could definitely do with a lick of paint and perhaps a deep clean. Room not made up for second night. And there is no such thing as a "women's drink"!!!

  • I stayed four nights. The manager replied to me very quickly and picked me up and took me back to the airport. They res – Colon from United States – August 3, 2025 (9/10)

The location is perfect. They are very clean and helpful. The manager is very nice and helpful.

What could be improved: Few people speak English.

  • Good enough for the price but basic – Katie from Thailand – July 31, 2025 (7/10)

    Cheap and cheerful
    Working tv
Breakfast included but basic; omelette, bread (no butter) tea, coffee.
    Good hot shower

What could be improved: Stayed 3 nights, but never had room cleaned

  • Pleasant – Fernando from Spain – June 16, 2025 (6/10)

    The size of the room

What could be improved: Dodgy neighbourhood. Mattress very hard. Noisy rooms

  • Airport pick-up exceptional. I feel safe there. Breakfast is good. The reception is staffed 24/7. – Paul from United States – May 19, 2025 (10/10)

Location is excellent in a very busy and commercial area of Brazzaville. The good thing is it is easy to get a taxi and most Government offices of business offices are less than 10 or 15-minutes away and taxis cost $2. The price of the hotel is also good. Hotel runs its generator during very frequent power interruptions. I think the area around the hotel is very safe.

What could be improved: It is an older hotel, nicely fixed up and very clean, but not fully modernized. The lobby is adequate, but simple

  • Good Stay – Cristiano from Italy – May 10, 2025 (6/10)

Good position not far from the main attraction of Brazzaville. The room was spacious, AC working very good but the hotel would need a brushing up specially the furniture. Good breakfast and free shuttle bus to/from the airport. I spent 4 nights thetr and,.in the end, my stay was good.

  • Great stay – Clv from United Kingdom – April 1, 2025 (10/10)

I liked the location, the taxi. Breakfast and stuff

  • Value for money hotel – Shanker from India – February 22, 2025 (10/10)

Hotel manager was cooperative, safety is nice. There is a electricity generator here so there is no problem even power cut. Power cut is often in this country. So this is good choice. Food was good. Room and bathroom were clean.
Overall it's value for money . Nice hotel

What could be improved: Everything was good
