First Impressions

Hôtel du Boulevard sits on one of Brazzaville’s busier avenues, and honestly, that’s both a blessing and something to consider. The building itself has that slightly worn but dignified look you find in many Central African cities — it’s clearly been around for a while, but there’s effort put into maintaining it. When I walked in, the lobby was cooler than the street outside (thank goodness), and the staff greeted me in both French and Lingala, which immediately felt welcoming.

The Room Experience

My room was simple but clean, which is really what you want in a three-star place. The air conditioning worked — and I mean actually worked, not just made noise — which in Congo’s heat is absolutely essential. The bed was comfortable enough, though the mattress had seen better days. What I appreciated was the decent water pressure in the shower and the fact that hot water was available most of the time. The Wi-Fi was spotty, but that’s pretty standard for this part of town.

Location and Getting Around

Being on Avenue de la DRTV puts you right in the mix of things, which means you’re close to shops, local eateries, and transport links. The downside? It can get noisy, especially in the mornings when traffic picks up. But honestly, if you’re staying in central Brazzaville, you’re going to deal with some street noise anyway. The hotel is within walking distance of several banks and the main market area, which is actually pretty convenient for travelers who need to handle practical stuff.

Dining and Amenities

The hotel has a small restaurant that serves both Congolese and French dishes — I tried their poulet à la moambé and it was surprisingly good, though not quite like what you’d get at a family home. Breakfast is basic but filling: bread, jam, coffee, and usually some fruit. The coffee is strong, which I needed after the street noise kept me up part of the night. There’s also parking available, which if you’re driving in Brazzaville, you know is worth its weight in gold.

Look, Hôtel du Boulevard isn’t going to wow you with fancy amenities or Instagram-worthy interiors. But what it does offer is reliable basics in a city where that’s not always guaranteed. The staff genuinely tries to be helpful — they helped me arrange transport to the airport and gave solid advice about which areas to avoid after dark. For the price point, you’re getting clean accommodation, working utilities, and a central location. It’s the kind of place that works well for business travelers or anyone who needs a decent base while exploring Brazzaville without breaking the bank.

  Le personnel est très accueillant et compréhensif. Réactif Très impliqué dans le séjour du client. Le respect est au rendez-vous. Je ne manquerai pas de séjourné là-bas une prochaine fois. Très proche de l'aéroport, très important.

  Le personnel d'accueil était impeccable, irréprochable mais les climatiseurs n'étaient à la hauteur (exemple la commande ne marchait pas). Il faut si possible penser au verrouillage automatique des porte par le système de clé magnétique.

  J’ai beaucoup aimé le calme qui règne dans cet établissement, et son emplacement par rapport aux différents centres d’intérêt de Brazzaville, la propreté et le service. La sécurité aussi est dune importance capitale et totale à cet hôtel.

  What could be improved: The staff were very slow, whole service was quite slow. Breakfast options is very limited- it’s either eggs and bread/vegetable and bread. I had this for 4 days! What was shocking, my colleague booked similar hotel after me, got a confirmation, yet when he came, having checked out of his other hotel, there was no room! The hotel was fully booked, we had to look for an emergency option, at night! This was very unprofessional. The hotel also didn’t find an option for him.
