Capital Hôtel Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Capital Hôtel on Avenue Général De Gaulle, you immediately sense this is where Brazzaville’s business elite come to stay. The marble lobby feels appropriately grand for a five-star property, though honestly, it’s the attention to detail that caught my eye first — fresh orchids everywhere and staff who actually remember your name after one conversation.
Prime Plateau Location
The hotel sits right in the heart of Plateau, which means you’re basically at the center of everything that matters in Brazzaville. I mean, you can walk to government buildings, major banks, and some of the city’s best dining spots without breaking a sweat. The Congo River views from the upper floors are genuinely spectacular, especially at sunset when the whole city seems to glow golden.
Luxury Accommodations
My room was spacious by any standard — high ceilings, contemporary African art, and a marble bathroom that felt more like a personal spa than anything else. The air conditioning actually works (trust me, this matters here), and the Wi-Fi is surprisingly reliable for business calls back home. What I appreciated most was the blend of modern luxury with subtle Congolese touches that didn’t feel forced or touristy.
Dining and Amenities
The main restaurant serves both international cuisine and local specialties — their grilled capitaine fish is honestly one of the best meals I had in the entire country. There’s also a well-equipped fitness center and a pool area where you can actually relax without feeling like you’re on display. The hotel’s parking is secure, which matters more than you might think when you’re navigating Brazzaville with a rental car.
Why Guests Love It
Look, Capital Hôtel isn’t perfect — service can be a bit slow during peak times, and some rooms show their age despite recent renovations. But there’s something reassuring about staying here, especially if you’re new to Central Africa. The staff genuinely care about making your stay comfortable, and the location gives you easy access to explore both the business district and the more vibrant neighborhoods nearby. It’s the kind of place that grows on you, where luxury meets practicality in a city that’s still finding its footing as a regional hub.

A beautiful spacious, clean room which included a good breakfast.

the cleaning girl that did my laundry
What could be improved: they were supposed to put me in a better room but they had a problem
breakfast starts late and is very poorNice and spacious, will recommend – Linda from United States – June 8, 2024 (8/10)
It was my second time in Brazzaville, but the first time I heard of this hotel. It was super clean, the staff kind and responsive, they have a generator which helped with the constant power cuts, the Wi-Fi solid for the most part. The room was nice and spacious. It was also less than 10-mins drive from my job and a running distance from Les Corniches. I especially liked all the different bed arrangements the cleaning staff did each day to my bed.
What could be improved: The location wasn’t optimal as far as restaurants went so I ate quite a bit at the hotel restaurant. Unfortunately, all of the meats and fish options were fried (except for some local dishes). That got tiring very quick. Unfortunately, there are no restaurants within walking distance, so that’s the bad part.
The bed and pillows, as cute as the decorations by the maids were, were super uncomfortable. Super. Each day, there was a sewer odor coming from the bathroom. But really, the hotel was nice and clean, so these observations didn’t play a major role in my rating and satisfaction.Calme et reposant ! – Chris from Democratic Republic of the Congo – February 4, 2024 (7/10)
Chambre spacieuse et très propre
What could be improved: RASNICE LITTLE HOTEL – Jeremy from United Kingdom – October 22, 2023 (8/10)
Location is very convenient for getting a taxi, it's a bit of a walk to downtown, but it's doable. Staff very helpful considering i don't speak a word of French ,but thankfully some of the staff do. They have a nice garden for relaxing in. All in all a very nice hotel for the price. Would definitely consider staying there again if ever in Brazzaville.
What could be improved: Bed a bit too low, cleaners did a good job cleaning the room, but leaving the key in the door when they finish is something that i didn't like. I guess that's their policy.chambre vaste et un très agreable sejour – Herman from Congo – September 7, 2023 (8/10)
j'ai pas pris de petit déjeuner mais l'hôtel est très bien situé
Very Good – Moloi from Lesotho – July 21, 2023 (8/10)
The breakfast was not included in the original quotation and I had to pay it separately. I found the breakfast to be fair but expensive and it was unusual to pay for any addition to breakfast that you eat, meaning there is no standard rate for breakfast. The price depends on what you have included and eaten.
What could be improved: The food was quite expensive and the menu was limited. The hotel fees were also expensive as compared to Lesotho where I come from.
